The Bathroom
it will be lovely and functional when it is done
making progress . . . . . . . .

First part of April
- our first room that
really looks like a room!

We still have work to do, but we
have done a lot. The tile we brought
all the way from Minnesota is down
and looks lovely. All the bathroom basics are in and working - even
Sarrah's tub. The cabinets are in and already in use. Around the corner a laundry is up and running as well.

We still have things to do
* add trim to the tiled wall
by the tub
* put up the base board
* the towels are hanging on nails
* the shower head is there but we still lack a shower

We are all so happy
with what we have done

Sara painting the "high places"
(she is very good at that.)

Gail painting. Gail seems to need
to "wear" each color we use in the house along with a nice even coating
of sheetrock dust.

The sheetrock is now up and taped.
Since this is a room with loads of water
the sheetrock is waterproof (so it has
a dark green finish in it) The cabinets
that will become the medicine closet &
storage are now in place.
The tub is in at last!
the sink is hiding under a trash bag.

we finally have a floor to go with the sink and toilet. Now as soon as they get the wiring fixed and the plumbing for the tub finished we can sheet rock and set the
tub (a day we are all waiting for!)

the hot water cabinet is also framed in
right behind the old door.

working on the plumbing.
The pipes were not winterized correctly so every one was
cracked when we first turned
on the water.

We had asked and been assured that they had been drained and blown but that was not the case.

April 4th - Shaving in the
morning using the construction
lights as the electric in the
bathroom was not done.

THE TUB!

Sarrah's dream come true - a huge tub to soak in!
This clawfoot cast iron "beast" has become Matt's
arch enemy! It currently lives in the living room
next to the couch. It is 71 inches long and 31 inches
wide, weighing in at 340 pounds empty!

The pluming has been a real challenge to say the least. Everyone has learned to leave Matt alone when he is contemplating the "tub".

the ceiling had to come down to
get to the wiring. The wiring was
a total mess and most had to
be redone.

the wall between the bathroom and garage before the
window came out. The hot water heater has been
moved and the toilet is in.

this is what the the people before us covered up with new sheet rock. It all had to be removed and replaced.

what was . . . . . . .
The bathroom
The current bathroom is small and has a window
that looks into the garage. (it will be removed)
Plans are to add the space of the hall to the
bathroom and have the new door open into the
rear mud room.

The existing hall that will
be added to the bathroom.

Picture is looking from the kitchen
towards the old "storage room" which is being recreated into a mud room. Abby's bedroom is through the back doorway.

We will redirect traffic that flowed down
this hall. You will now access the bath
and mudroom from the room of
requirement. There will also be a door
added from the garage into the
mud room and a doorway
from the mudroom to the main house.
